SPDT NC-NO Dual Circuit Tact Switches for Harsh Environments

January 19, 2019 by Scott McMahan

C&K launched a dual-circuit technology tact switch, adding to its extensive KSC range of tactile switches. The new KSC-DCT tact switches offer SPDT NC-NO dual-circuit functionality that provides two outputs from a single input. Housed in a tiny 6.2mm by 6.2mm by 2.9mm PCB-mount package, the silicone 70SH actuator included in the package increases the height to 5.2mm above the PCB surface for easy operation and simpler integration through pre/post travel. The company designed the switch series for automotive, industrial, and medical applications.

Rated for 300,000 operations, the new switches require an operating force of 4.75 N and offer a nominal travel distance of 0.85 mm. The KSC-DCT switches incorporate the company's haptics and deliver excellent levels of feedback when pressed.

The IP67-sealed switches operate over the temperature range -40°C to +85°C, making them fit for use in harsh environments, especially those of automotive, industrial, and medical applications.

"The KSC-DCT tact switch is an important addition to our comprehensive range of KSC tact switches," said Jérôme Smolinski, Global Product Manager, C&K. "It is the first SMT tact switch with an IP67 rating in a 6.2 mm x 6.2 mm package to offer SPDT functionality. In fact, it is the smallest and lowest-cost alternative to snap switches currently available."
