ON Semiconductor Expands Power MOSFET Portfolio with 18 New Devices for Computing

August 09, 2006 by Jeff Shepard

ON Semiconductor introduced 18 new Power MOSFET devices that optimize dc-dc conversion and reduce power losses at critical current levels. These Power MOSFETs are well-suited for CPU/GPU power delivery, dc-dc conversion, and both low and high-side switching in computing applications such as desktops, laptops and servers.

These new 30V, 35 to 191A devices are single N-channel MOSFETs offering lower RDS(on), which minimizes power dissipation. The devices also provide low gate charge and low gate charge ratio that reduces conduction and switching losses. This makes the power supply more efficient.

"To help our customers meet their specific application needs, ON Semiconductor has continued to expand its PowerFET portfolio to offer the industry's widest variety of MOSFETs," said David Garafano, Vice President PowerFET Division for ON Semiconductor. "Because ON Semiconductor has multiple manufacturing sources for these new MOSFET devices, we can effectively manage sudden demand shifts and offer the added assurance of on-time delivery."

Eight of the new Power MOSFET devices are offered in a DPAK package, and are budgetary priced between $0.40 and $0.87 per unit in quantities of 10,000 units. The additional 10 new Power MOSFET devices are offered in an SO-8 flat lead package – with exposed lead frame on the backside for better heat removal. These devices are priced between $0.71 and $0.91 per unit in quantities of 10,000 units.
