ON Semi Intros MicroIntegration Protection Devices
ON Semiconductor Corp. (Phoenix, AZ) introduced five new MicroIntegration™ circuits designed to protect sensitive components in portable and computing applications from damaging and disruptive electrical transients during the transmission of high-speed data. Target applications for the new devices include digital cameras and other portable consumer equipment; set-top boxes; and high-speed data ports in PCs, including digital visual interface, VGA, Ethernet and USB ports.
Four of the new devices are filters designed specifically for USB, Ethernet, Firewire and other high-speed data applications. The devices meet all the requirements of USB, including electromagnetic interference filtering and line termination for upstream/downstream ports. Each of these new integrated components replaces a current discrete solution that requires 12 components.
The additional eight new devices offer a low capacitance for electrostatic discharge protection. Each of the new protection devices has been tested at 15kV contact discharge, which exceeds the IEC61000 8kV electrostatic discharge standard. With a
low capacitance of 1.5pF typical, the devices ensure that data-line speeds are maintained and guarantee the integrity of the data.
The following devices are in production now and samples can be ordered online: the
SL05T1 priced at $0.10, the SRDA05-4R2 priced at $0.50, the NUP4201DR2 priced at $0.60, the STF202-22T1 priced at $0.25, and the NUF2221W1T2 priced at $0.30. Limited samples of the following devices are currently available (these devices will go into full production during the second quarter of 2003): the NUP1301ML3 priced at $0.05, the NUP2201MR6T1 priced at $0.30, the NUP2301MW6T1 priced at $0.10, the NUP4201MR6 priced at $0.60, the NUP4301MR6 priced at $0.20, the NUF2101MT1 priced at $0.25, and the NUF2101W1T1 priced at $0.30.
