New Products Sep 14, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

New Japan Radio Co. Ltd. (NJR, Japan) released the NJM2886, a low dropout voltage regulator that features an output current of 500mA, ripple rejection of 75dB at 1kHz, noise of 45µVrms, and a precision output of ±±1%. Suitable for DVDs and CD-ROMs, the products are surface-mountable, and are claimed to simplify DSP circuit design. The company was able to package the IC in TO-252-5 cases by adding two terminals to the previously used three terminals. With on/off controls, the NJM2886 is priced at $0.67 each.
