Eltek Valere has announced the next generation (Gen3) of its Scalable power product family, the Scalable Powerpack™ – a fully integrated dc power system for central offices, mobile telephone switching office (MTSOs), data centers and other high-capacity computing/networking centers.

The company describes the Scalable Powerpack is a highly reliable, fully configurable system designed to minimize both installation and operational costs while delivering maximum power conversion efficiency. This latest Gen3 model utilizes high-capacity Powerpack rectifiers, incorporates an overhead bus that enables easier cabling installation, reduces cable congestion inside the bay and eliminates the need for costly central bus details or chandeliers.

The Scalable Powerpack system can scale up to 10,000A and is optimized for facilities where high power needs and ease of expandability are important. The central building block is Eltek Valere’s three-phase, 48V Powerpack rectifier, which is rated at 200A with high power efficiency conversion exceeding 94%. Powerpack rectifiers are available in 208 or 480Vac input configurations and utilize three-phase power.

The Scalable Powerpack rectifier bay is a compact and easily upgradeable system that can accommodate up to 15 Powerpack rectifiers and provide up to 3,000A in a single bay. The number of return positions has been increased to 50 total return positions per distribution bay back-to-back, and the number of battery landings has been increased to 20 positions per rectifier bay, back-to-back. The design of the rectifier bay is optimized with convenient rear access and flexible load distribution to simplify expanding the number of rectifiers in the bay.

For larger power implementations, the Scalable Powerpack system has a unique, field-expandable pyramid busbar structure that enables multiple rectifier bays to be joined to offer up to 10,000A of power for growing telecom or enterprise power applications.

With the Eltek Valere XC2100 controller the system can be monitored and configured remotely over an IP network. Each rectifier also has an LCD screen for local configuration and monitoring.

"The increasing demand for cloud and supercomputing services is driving a need in central offices and other high-capacity computing/networking centers for efficient, powerful bus systems that are cost-effective to install, maintain and expand," said David Leal, Vice President of Sales, North America. "The overhead bus incorporated in the Scalable Powerpack system delivers a solution that cuts costs by eliminating the need for a central bus chandelier and providing flexible expansion options."
