National Semi Intros LM9076 LDO Voltage Regulator

April 18, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

National Semiconductor Corp. (Santa Clara, CA) introduced an ultra-low, quiescent current, low-voltage dropout (LDO) regulator that expands National's portfolio of power management devices for the automotive and industrial markets. The LM9076 is suitable for all automotive environments, from cockpit to "under-the-hood" applications.

The LM9076, a 150 mA LDO voltage regulator, is available in 5 V with other voltage options to follow. It contains a variety of protection features such as thermal shutdown, input transient protection and a wide operating temperature. The LM9076 has a quiescent current of 25 µA typical for a 0.1 mA load. The LM9076 features a simplified circuit design, which is rugged enough to withstand harsh automotive environments with voltage transients up to +70 V/-50 V.

National's LM9076 is available now in eight-pin, SOIC NARROW packaging, and is priced at $0.89 in 1,000-unit quantities. The LM9076 is available now in five-pin TO 263 packaging, and is priced at $0.95 in 1,000-unit quantities.
