Mitsubishi Electric Begins Marketing the M62237FP Microchip

August 07, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Mitsubishi Electric Corp. (Japan) has begun marketing the M62237FP, a microchip for the control of charging a lithium-ion battery. The new chip is claimed to be able to improve the output error of the charger's standard voltage source from the current margin of +/-two percent to one percent. The new IC is suitable for use in battery chargers for mobile telephones.

The M62237FP includes a standard voltage source, a current-controlling amplifier and a voltage-controlling amplifier together on an eight-pin SO package. The units were previously made as separate chips.

Mitsubishi Electric plans to start volume production of the M62237FP in August 2001 at the monthly output of two-million units.
