New Products Mar 21, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Minebea Electronics Ltd. (UK) announced the immediate availability of a new cost-saving 250W power supply that has been optimized for use in personal computers with both AMD and Intel processors, the SD230U. It is housed in an enhanced airflow PS2-style enclosure and is designed for industry-standard ATX compatibility with an optional NLX version available.

The SD230U is a five output, fan-cooled switching power supply, with an enhanced auxiliary supply, which can provide 2A in “sleep mode” allowing system rapid resume and wake-up options to be implemented. All outputs are SELV compliant. The thermal fan speed-control features automatic internal temperature control. The SD230U is cooled by a low-noise, 80mm, ball-bearing fan and complies with regulatory requirements for EN61000-3-2 (limited harmonics). The model offers an input range of 115Vac or 230Vac and is tested for ambient temperatures up to 50 degrees C. It features short-circuit, over-voltage and current protection on all outputs.
