March 08, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Minebea Electronics Ltd. (Germany) announced its new 300W SD235U power supply, which is designed to meet the needs of performance systems and complies with regulatory requirements for EN61000-3-2. The SD235U has enhanced +12V capability to enable designers to improve overall system efficiency by implementing +12V VRs to derive processor power, while retaining backward compatibility for solutions using +5V.

An additional industry-standard connector is provided for +12V power distribution to the motherboard as per Intel ATX 12V power supply guidelines. Housed in an enhanced airflow PS2 style enclosure, the power supply is designed for industry-standard ATX compatibility. An enhanced auxiliary supply provides 2.5A peak, allowing for system rapid resume and wake-up options to be implemented. The SD235U features automatic internal temperature control, offers a wide input range from 90Vac to 264Vac, and is tested for ambient temperatures up to 50 degrees C.
