Microsemi Unveils the New LX1734 DC/DC Converter

February 18, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Microsemi Corp.'s (Santa Ana, CA) Linfinity power management division debuted the second product in a new line of dc/dc converter ICs for use in personal computers and PDAs. The LX1734 is a high-speed inverting dc/dc current-mode controller from a 4V to 10V supply. Microsemi claims that, with a 1A 20V integrated switch, the converter can generate output currents up to 250mA, at voltages down to -15V, in a SOT-23 5-pin footprint.

“The LX1734 is the beginning of a long line of dc/dc circuits that solve

customer problems," said Roger Holliday, vice president of product development for the Power Management Group, in a statement. “By leveraging our success with backlight and RF circuits we have gained insight into what these applications need -- once again, more functionality and higher efficiency."

The LX1734 is available now at $1.04 each in quantities of 10,000.
