Microsemi Launches High Performance Multi–lamp Controller for CCFL Displays
Microsemi Corp. has announced a new high performance multi–lamp controller designed with features optimized for lighting the cold cathode fluorescent lamps used in large screen LCD TV applications. Designated the LX6501™, the new controller minimizes external components by fully integrating on–chip gate drivers having the capacity to drive N channel power MOSFETs on both the low and high sides of full bridge inverters. Input voltages can be as high as 27V. An on–chip regulator generates internal driver operating voltages that supply the output gate drive circuit.

"A controller that helps them to manage costs by simplifying their designs is essential in their highly competitive market. The LX6501 addresses that need directly."
The LX6501 controller is available for immediate sampling in a choice of two 28–pin RoHS compliant and Pb–free surface mount packages, the TSSOP measuring 9.6mm x 6.25mm x 0.85mm, and the SOWB measuring 17.7mm x 10mm x 2.2mm.
