Metallux Expands Thick-Film Power Resistor Offering

New Products Nov 07, 2016 by Power Pulse1595211359

Another gap in the compliment of Metallux' thick film power resistors has been closed with the addition of the PLR 200.70.51. Continuously growing demands towards performance, achieving high pulse energy on very limited space through optimal heat dissipation characterizes these thick film PLR resistors. Their typical layer composition allows minimal heat transfer resistance, which in turn releases the active resistance layer. The extreme flat design with approximately 1mm thickness (without electrical connection) enables a space saving mounting on an even heat distributing or deflecting area. Impulses with a guideline of >2kJ can be absorbed.

Depending on the resistance value which normally will be between 5Ω and <500Ω applications with voltages to maximal 1000V can be accommodated. The construction of the resistor assures a negligible low inductance of the total resistance. Standard connections like wires or plug-in mounts compliment the lay out. These power resistors are commonly used in energy generation, traffic engineering as well as drive and control technology.

Power resistors in thick film technology on steel substrate with their space saving design allow a high power density within a very limited area. Outstanding characteristics like low inductance and the possibility to also offer high resistance values open up new perspectives in the power electronic designs.
