Metal Strip Current Sensing Chip Resistors

November 13, 2014 by Jeff Shepard

NIC Components Corp. announced the addition of NCLP series metal strip current sensing resistors to its expanded offering of SMT resistive products. NCLP series utilizes multiple metal constructions (Ni-Cr, Mn-Cu and Fe-Al-Cr) for low thermal EMF performance and stable TCR of +75ppm / degree C. Offered in resistance value range of 1mΩ to 500mΩ (0.001 to 0.500 Ohm) in 1%, 2% and 5% resistance tolerances. Power ratings of 1W, 1.5W, 2W and 3W are supported in EIA standard 2512 case size. NCLP series covers high current requirements (up to 55A) over -55 to +170 degrees C operating temperature range (power derated above +70 degrees C).

These devices are designed for use in low voltage high current circuits; including DC-DC, POL, voltage regulators and power converter applications. RoHS and Reach complaint, NCLP series is supplied on tape and reel packaging for automated pick and placement and is compatible with Pb-free reflow soldering. Typical unit pricing ranges from $0.06 to $0.11 USD each, when purchased in production volumes. Contact NIC today to review your requirements, and request free samples for design and evaluation purposes.

Circuit applications are expected to include current sensing, load balancing, power management, point-of-load regulators, dc-dc converters, operational amplifiers, fuse monitoring, supply voltage monitoring, and so on. Typical product applications will include power converters, commercial, industrial and telecommunications systems and test and instrumentation applications.
