Mean Well Introduces DIN Rail Switching Power Supplies
Mean Well has announced the introduction of new miniature DIN rail switching power supplies, the MDR-100 series, for low wattage DIN rail applications. These Class I models are enclosed with a fully isolated plastic case to prevent users from hazardous shock. The design of universal ac input is said to make the worldwide installation easier since users can get rid of bothersome input switch selection.
Featuring active PFC function and up to 88% of efficiency, the MDR-100 can be cooled by only free air convection up to 60°. Another important feature of the MDR-100 is its low no load power consumption (<1W). It is claimed that this unique characteristic can significantly expand the application beyond just the heavy industrial field, and can also be applied to datacom or IT applications with energy saving concerns, as well as to meet anticipated government requirements in the near future.
The device also features short circuit protection, overload protection, over voltage protection, over temperature protection and the DC OK relay contact, plus an LED indicator for monitoring the status of the PSU. Typical applications include factory automation, process control, electro-mechanical industry, datacom, and IT.
