Mean Well Announces New Slim-Type DIN Rail Switching Power Supplies

February 06, 2007 by Jeff Shepard

Mean Well has announced the introduction of new slim type DIN rail switching power supplies, MDR-40(40W) & MDR-60(60W) series, for the fast growing demand of low wattage DIN rail applications. These Class I models (with F.G.) are enclosed with fully isolated plastic case to prevent users from hazardous shock. The design of 40mm in width complies with the slim trend that the precious space on the industrial rail inside the control cabinet can be saved effectively.

Featuring up to 88% of efficiency, MDR-40 & 60 can be cooled by only free air convection up to 70°C that significantly increase the reliability and lifetime of the power supply. Another important feature of these slim DIN rail power are their low no load power consumption (<0.75W). Short circuit protection, overload protection, over voltage protection, and the DC OK relay contact for monitoring the status of PSU are standard functions for the MDR-40 & 60 series. Typical applications include factory automation, process control, electro-mechanical industry, datacom, IT, etc.

Among the features and main specifications of the new MDR-40 & 60 are: 40mm slim width; universal ac input/full range; short circuit, overload, over-voltage protection; cooling by free air convection; can be installed on DIN rail TS-35/7.5 or 15; DC OK relay contact; no load power consumption <0.75W; LED indicator for power on; a dimension of 40mm x 90mm x 100mm; and certificated for TUV/CE/CB/UL/CUL.
