Maxell Introduces New Li-Ion Battery Line

May 21, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Maxell Corp. (Fairlawn, NJ) introduced its new line of polymer, rechargeable, lithium-ion batteries, which are available in 12 different size types. The cells measure just 3mm thick and use a gel polymer instead of a liquid to trap electrolytes in a non-woven fabric.

The new batteries are made up of LiCoO² as a cathode electrode, graphite as an anode electrode, gel polymer as the electrolyte and aluminum-laminated film as the outer casing.
