Macroblock Inc. (Taiwan) announced its new MBI 6003 compact power modules, which are designed for employment in LED traffic-light systems. The modules measure 85mm x 50mm x 2.7mm, and feature a flyback circuit architecture that enables them to provide a constant output current of 100mA, and an output power up to 8W. Each module can drive >100 LED lamps.
The power modules deliver a minimum efficiency rating of 70 percent. They are specified to operate at temperatures ranging from -40 to +80 degrees C. Pricing is claimed to be about 30- to 40-percent lower than comparable US models that meet the ITE standard.
