New Products Apr 21, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Linear Technology Corp. (Milpitas, CA) introduced the LTC3720, a synchronous, step-down, dc/dc power controller that features a valley current control architecture that achieves ultra-fast transient response.

The LTC3720 features a wide input range of 4V to 36V, reduced heat dissipation, improved efficiency by as much as four percent, a minimum on-time of less than 100ns, on-chip high-current gate drivers, input under-voltage lockout, current foldback, optional short-circuit shutdown, a power-good indicator, and a small footprint (narrow SSOP).

The LTC3720 is housed in a GN28 package. Pricing starts at $3.05 each in 1,000-piece quantities.
