Linear Tech Adds 36V, 1A & 2A DC-DC Pin-Compatible uModule Regulators

November 26, 2007 by Jeff Shepard

Linear Technology Corp. introduced the LTM8022 and LTM8023, 1A and 2A high voltage dc-dc uModule™ regulator systems, respectively, with up to 36V (40Vmax) input voltage and up to 10V output voltage. The 10V output voltage range is suitable for 9.6V intermediate bus systems and the 36V input provides sufficient input protection in 24 and 28V systems. These are the newest members of Linear’s LTM802x family of high-voltage uModule regulators.

The LTM8022 and LTM8023 are described as complete dc-dc solutions that include a dc-dc controller IC, power switches, inductor, compensation circuitry and input and output bypass capacitors. The solution is protected in an enclosed plastic 11.25 x 9 x 2.8mm LGA (Land Grid Array) surfacemount package that weighs less than 0.86g. With identical pin functions, the two devices are interchangeable and do not requires circuit board layout alteration. Because of their high input and output voltage rating, these products are well suited for applications such as 24V industrial and 28V medical and avionics systems.

The LTM8022 and LTM8023 are complete 1A and 2A, current mode, switching dc-dc point-of-load regulator systems with 3.6 to 36V input operation that can regulate an output voltage from 0.8 to 10V with only one resistor. Encapsulated packaging protects the circuit components against mechanical, chemical and ambient factors, thus improving reliability. The LTM8022 and LTM8023 are rated for operation from -40 to 85°C. These devices are ROHS compliant. Their gold-plated pads allow both Pb- and Pb-free solder to be used during board assembly.

1,000-piece pricing starts at $6.95 for LTM8022 & $7.95 for LTM8023.
