Lambda Extends SWS Series Power Supplies

October 10, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

Lambda Electronics Inc. (San Diego, CA) has extended its SWS family of power supplies to include 300 W and 600 W models. The new SWS300 and SWS600 Series are suitable for cost-sensitive applications that require both reliability and performance. Each series accepts a wide range of input voltages – from 85 Vac to 265 Vac – and contains active power-factor correction circuitry to meet EN61000-3-2 standards. The units are available with 5 V, 24 V or 48 V outputs and currents up to 120 A.

Features include over-temperature, over-current and over-voltage protection; an output adjustment potentiometer (±10%); an integral power-good LED indicator; and screw terminals for input and output connections. The 600 W models also have remote on/off, ac fail signal and current-sharing capabilities. The high-power SWS supplies are cooled by an internal fan and deliver full power at 50 °C without de-rating and up to 65 °C with de-rating. The units measure a compact 2.05 in x 4 in x 7.8 in (300 W Series) and 3.6 in x 4.72 in x 7.48 in (600 W Series).

Both series meet Class B EMI standards (radiated and conducted); are safety approved to UL60950, CSA60950, EN60950 and EN50178 specifications; and are CE marked. They also meet EN61000-4-X immunity standards. The SWS300 and SWS600 Series are available now, with prices starting at $125 in single-unit quantities.
