Lambda Extends Front-End Portfolio with Medically Approved 350W Units
Lambda has added a medically approved 350-watt front-end version of its successful NV-Power family of AC-DC power supplies, which combine high-density, high efficiency, low noise and EMC performance in a compact design. The new series member, NV-350FEP, is designed for powering non-isolated dc-dc converters in medical, test-and-measurement and broadcast applications.
The NV-350FEP employs Lambda's patented multiple resonant topology (MRT), which uniquely uses synchronous rectification to achieve efficiencies of up to 90%. By reducing power losses significantly, Lambda delivers 7 watts per cubic inch.
In addition to a main output of 12 volts at 29.2 amps, the NV-350FEP is supplied with an auxiliary output of 12 volts at 0.5 amps. Moreover, a third, stand-by output (5 volts at 2 amps or 12 volts at 1 amp) can be selected as part of an option card that includes AC good and a choice of inhibit or enabling signals.
Because of its patented soft-switch MRT design, the NV-350FEP has inherently low emissions, aided by the use of silicon carbide Schottky diodes. Unique for this class of product, it has IEC60601-1 medical approval, combined with EN55022 Level B conducted emissions, as well as IEC61010-1 and IEC60950-1 approvals.
The NV-350FEP comes in a compact 1.6- x 3.75- x 9.15-inch package, compatible with 1U enclosures as well as 2U and 3U card frames. For ease of use these power supplies are offered with a choice of screw or IEC input connectors and output screw terminals carefully designed to avoid cable bunching.
Evaluation units are available now, priced at $184 each in 100-unit quantities.
