IXYS Intros SMA and SMB Schottky Diodes

June 19, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

IXYS Corp. (Santa Clara, CA), a leader in power semiconductors for power conversion and motion control applications, announced the expansion of its surface-mount device (SMD) portfolio with the addition of the SMA and SMB standard packages. The first product family in these packages are Schottky diodes with voltage ratings of 40V, 60V and 100V.

Typical applications are switch-mode power supplies, dc/dc converters, free-wheeling diodes, polarity protection, OR-ing circuits for redundant multiple-supply voltages and uninterruptible power supplies. Schottky rectifiers are available with different voltage designs to support a variety of applications with optimized characteristics of low forward-voltage drop, small reverse-leakage current and excellent dynamic behavior.

Sample quantities will be available in early July 2003. SMA products are rated for 1A forward current, and SMB products are rated for 2A. Some of the products being introduced include the DSS1-40BA rated at 1A and 40V, and the DSS2-100AB rated at 2A and 100V.
