IR Unveils AMA, AMF and AMR DC-DC Converters

New Products Mar 18, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

International Rectifier Corp. (IR, El Segundo, CA) introduced its AMA Series (5 W), AMF Series (12 W) and AMR Series (30 W) of radiation-tolerant, high-reliability, dc-dc converters designed for extended operation in moderate radiation environments. The new converters are standard, off-the-shelf units suitable for point-of-load regulators or as a building block in a power system for low earth orbit satellites and launch vehicles.

The AMA, AMF and AMR converters have a 28 V input, with standard output voltages of 3.3 V, 5 V, 12 V and 15 V for single-output models, and ±5 V, ±12 V and ±15 V for dual-output models. The AMA Series weigh <32 g, with an outline of 1.63 in x 1.13 in x 0.33 in. The AMF Series weigh <36 g, with an outline of 2.10 in x 1.38 in x 0.33 in. The AMR Series weigh <68 g, with an outline of 2.74 in x 1.53 in x 0.41 in. The operating temperature range for each of the converters is -55 °C to +125 °C, and includes an on/off command. The devices have MIL-STD-461C, CE03 and CS01 compliance with an external filter.

Pricing is $745 each for the AMA2805S/EM, $810 each for the AMF2805S/EM and $925 each for the AMR2805S/EM in 100-piece quantities.
