International Rectifier Corp. (IR, El Segundo, CA) introduced two new devices that expand the existing ultra-fast recovery diode family. The UFB120FA20 and the UFB120FA40 ultra-fast, 120A diodes are used to maximize efficiency in output-rectification circuits in high-current applications such as welding systems, power supplies and battery chargers.
The diodes have up to 11 percent faster recovery time than competing 200V devices and approximately 17 percent faster recovery time than competing 400V devices, according to the company. Soft recovery and frequency characteristics enable higher welding frequencies that make bulky magnetic components such as transformers and coils smaller, less expensive, more efficient and more reliable.
The new ultra-fast soft-recovery diodes are available immediately. Pricing is $11.72 each for the UFB120FA20 (200V) and $11.79 each for the UFB120FA40 (400V) devices in 1,000-unit quantities.
