Infineon Develops New Generation of 6.5kV Thyristors

With the development of two new 6.5 kV thyristors, Infineon has extended its portfolio of high voltage devices designed for medium voltage drives. The new thyristors and are well suited for soft start drive units of motors and as medium voltage rectifiers or crowbars.
The model T281N65TOF can handle an average current of 285A in a 58 mm ceramic housing, while the T571N65TOF is rated for an average current of 540A and comes in a 75 mm ceramic housing.
Samples are currently available with production slated to start by the end of this month.
