October 01, 2009 by Jeff Shepard

Hewlett-Packard (HP) introduced its new HP R/T3000 uninterruptible power system (UPS) which delivers up to 3000W in a space-saving 2U (3.5 inch) design. The line-interactive UPS with proven digital signal processor (DSP) technology is said to deliver clean and reliable power protection in an energy efficient transformer-less design that reduces heat generation. According to the company, IT managers seeking green solutions will benefit from this new UPS as it delivers up to 95% efficiency and takes only 2U of space. The UPS can be configured as either a tower or rack and comes with tower servers, wiring closets, and blade enclosures.

Additional features include: RoHS compliance specifications for environmental safety; up to 3300VA/3000W in only 2U for space-constrained areas; rack configuration convertible to a tower UPS with included hardware for workplace flexibility; extra long battery life with Enhanced Battery Management (EBM); higher efficiency with digital signal processing (DSP) technology for a lighter weight, smaller, up to 95% efficient, and cooler temperature UPS; optional Extended Runtime Modules (ERMs) available to increase overall battery runtime up to an hour; hot swappable batteries for easy maintenance; support for two load segments to independently control separate device loads and configure scheduled startups and shutdowns; and bundled HP Power Management Software enables monitoring and control of the HP UPSs locally or remotely.

The HP R/T3000 UPS is available now with a U.S. Internet price of $1,349. The HP Power Management Software enables monitoring and control of the HP UPSs locally or remotely and is bundled with the UPS at no additional cost.
