HiTek Power Intros FM-400/600 Power Systems

November 15, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

HiTek Power (Santee, CA) introduced its new series of low-profile, modular, distributed power systems that are

hot-pluggable for N+1 redundancy, with Positronic connectors that allow modules to be removed and inserted so power service is not interrupted.

The new power systems - Models FM-600 and FM-400 - come in 1U modules (1.66in x 5in x 11.95in) as well as a three-module 1U-high rack for a standard 19in cabinet shelf. The FM-600 and FM-400 are also available in a 3U (5in x 1.66in x 11.95in) 19in rack shelf for vertical module mounting of up to eight modular supplies.

Power ratings are 600W, 85Vac to 265Vac (FM-600) and 400W, 85Vac to 265Vac (FM-400), with active power-factor correction to 0.99. Each model delivers a power density of up to 6W per cubic inch, and outputs ranging from 12V to 48V at efficiencies as high as 86 percent.

Features include active-current sharing and internal OR-ing devices, dc-OK, ac-OK, over-temperature protection, and remote on/off indicators. Both models meet all international safety and emission specifications for all configurations.

The FM-600 and FM-400 are priced at $0.60 per watt, in OEM quantities, and come with a one-year warranty. Availability is stock to 10 weeks.
