September 03, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

HiTek Power Corp. (Santee, CA) introduced a family of low-profile, 150W, switching power supplies with a high-output, current-pulse capability that makes them suitable for use in thermal printing, telecommunications, and test and industrial equipment. The new TEK 150 Series ac/dc power supplies measure only 1.5in x 3in x 5in (38mm x 76mm x 127mm) and weigh less than 1lb (450g). The U-channel casing allows them to be operated at up to 100W without fan cooling, or up to 150W with forced cooling of 16ft³/min.

The TEK 150 Series includes four models, offering output-voltage ratings of 5V to 6V, 12V to 16V, 24V to 30V and 48V to 56V. Input voltage is 90Vac to 132Vac/180Vac to 264Vac auto-selectable, at a frequency of 47Hz to 63Hz. Features include remote on/off; power good; and over-temperature, over-voltage, over-current and short-circuit protection with automatic recovery. The supplies meet all relevant international safety and emission specifications, including EN61000-3-2 Class A.

The TEK 150 Series power supply is priced at $75, in production quantities, and comes with a one-year warranty. Availability is stock to eight weeks.
