Hi-Q Power Capacitors from AVX

New Products Mar 13, 2006 by Jeff Shepard

AVX Corp. has designed a leaded Hi-Q, high radio frequency (RF) power capacitor to handle high power and high voltage levels in RF and microwave applications. Designated the HQL series, the leaded capacitors offer ultra low equivalent series resistance and dissipation factor at high frequencies.

This multilayer capacitor is intended for RF power amplifiers, inductive heating, industrial and medical electronics, and a non-magnetic version is available for high magnetic field environments such as magnetic resonant imaging coils.

"The new HQL series of components were specifically designed to run cooler at high RF current levels, giving better long term reliability than those currently offered in the field," said Sonja Brown, AVX product manager.

The HQL leaded capacitor has a capacitance range of 4.7pF to 6,800pF with a dissipation factor of 0.1% max. The operating temperature ranges from -55°C to 125°C.

Pricing ranges from $1.68 to $10.00 depending on quantity and tolerance with a lead-time of stock to 8 weeks.
