Green Power Technologies Ltd. (GPT, Rehovot, Israel), a power management IC company that designs and develops power-factor correction (PFC) products and power management ICs for the power supply industry, presented its Smart power-factor correction (PFC) GPTM product line, which is suitable for high-power applications such as servers, television sets, network applications, and medical equipment.
The GPTM module is a complete active PFC stage, enabling a low component count and simple solution for high-power, active PFC. It meets and exceeds the requirements of the standards-related harmonic current injection into the power line. The GPTM is a "matchbox" size device that includes the entire control circuitry as well as its auxiliary; power MOSFET and PFC diode in one package. It is based on GPT's patented PFC control concept and PFC modular approach. An active PFC front end can be easily designed by just adding the external line rectifier, inductor, and output capacitor.
The GPTM provides a complete universal line power factor stage for a 1 kW to 3.5 kW power range. The GPTM is able to start up under full-load conditions and maintains a stable output voltage over a wide range of operating conditions. Integrated fast over-voltage (cycle-by-cycle), and average over-current and over-temperature protections ensure high reliability under rugged operating conditions.
