GPT Debuts Modular Plug-and-Play PFC Family
Green Power Technologies (GPT, Rehovot, Israel), a power management IC company that designs and develops power-factor correction (PFC) products and power management ICs for the power supply industry, announced the release of its "Plug-and-Play" modular, PFC, product family, which will allow power supply manufacturers to reduce time to market and to improve the ability to offer cost-effective products, higher power density, higher reliability, system stability and wider system protection possibilities.
The new product line is based on a simplified control method that enables the correction of total harmonic distortion without sensing the input line voltage. The method is patented and meets the EN61000-3-2 standard over a wide range of power. A reliable, robust and efficient active PFC front end can be easily and quickly designed by just adding it a few components, freeing the designer from dealing with control loops, compensation networks, and simplifying the PCB design. Due to the smart control method, the circuit is able to start up under full load conditions and to provide unconditional dynamic stability over a wide operating range. The integrated fast over-voltage protection, over-current protection and over-temperature protection provide high reliability even under rugged operating conditions.
