Generac Expands its QT Series of Standby Generators for 2007

September 04, 2006 by Jeff Shepard

Generac Power Systems announced the addition of new and higher-rated models of its line of residential and commercial standby generators.

"The new models reflect our market-leading commitment to bring better and more affordable standby power solutions to home and business owners," says Mike Carr, Manager of Marketing Communications. "These are next-generation gensets that incorporate breakthrough technology and revolutionary advances in design that make them quieter but more powerful than ever." The company claims to have introduced the first automatic home standby system in 1989. In 2005, the company launched its QT Series of commercial products.

"Our products have revolutionized the world of standby power," Carr said. "On the residential side, we've got the most powerful air-cooled gensets available. For commercial applications, the QT Series is the smart solution for business owners to protect against disruptive and costly power interruptions."

The flagship of the new air-cooled lineup is the industry exclusive 16kW model with Generac's innovative, patent pending Quiet-Test™ feature. This breakthrough advance operates the genset at a slower speed during its weekly self-test, making it as quiet as a car at idle. The 16kW unit is suitable for starting a 5-ton air conditioner, with power to spare. Similarly suitable are the new 10 and 13kW models, which also boast powerful motor starting capabilities. Operating 3, 4 and 5-ton air conditioning systems — and additional circuits — is easier than ever with Generac standby power.

The new PowerMaster™ load control system prioritizes a home's major electrical loads and prevents overloading of the generator. During an outage, air conditioning has the highest priority and requires the most power to begin running, so it starts up first. Once the ac is going, power is routed to the rest of the home's circuits for effective whole house coverage.

All of the 2007 automatic standby products feature Rhino-Coat™, Generac's new textured paint finish. This durable, long-lasting protection provides consistent coverage and better bonding to seams and edges to resist corrosion. The new model lineup includes liquid-cooled offerings with outputs ranging from 20 to 150kW, all with sound attenuated enclosures and the Quiet-Test feature. The 100 and 150kW models are compatible with Generac's Modular Power System, making possible the creation of higher output systems.
