Galaxy Power Releases the Pisces Series of Converters

June 19, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Galaxy Power Inc. recently introduced the new Pisces Series of 30A quarter-brick dc-dc converters. Galaxy claims that these converters deliver up to 92-percent efficiency for a 3.3V output at 15A, and 90 percent at full load. The open-frame modules are surface-mount assembled on a single, double-sided, printed circuit board.

The new Pisces Series is heatsink-ready, with the heatsink attached. The converters use patent-pending magnetics and are controlled by a microcontroller. Modules are available in several output voltages, including 5.0V, 3.3V, 2.5V, 2.0V, 1.8V and 1.5V. Input voltages range from 36V to 75Vdc, and 18V to 36Vdc.

The Pisces Series of converters is currently available. The Pisces sells for $99.00 when purchased in 1,000-piece quantities.
