Fairchild Presents FS6X1220RT Power Switch

June 04, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

Fairchild Semiconductor International (South Portland, ME) introduced the FS6X1220RT power switch, an integrated, off-line, power switch for dc/dc forward or fly-back power supply applications, as well as for voice over internet protocol (VOIP) phones, digital feature phones, industrial power supplies, and telecom central office and PBX power supplies.

The device integrates a fully avalanche-rated SenseFET (200V minimum breakdown rating) with a current-mode, pulse-width modulation IC. The FS6X1220RT offers over-voltage, over-load, cycle-by-cycle current limit, and thermal shutdown protection; line under-voltage detection; remote sleep on/off; under-voltage lock out; and an optimized blanking and gate turn-on/turn-off driver. In addition, the device has temperature-compensated, precision current sources for loop compensation and fault-protection circuitry.

The FS6X1220RT is available in space-saving, TO-220F-5L and D2-PAK-5L packages. Samples and demo boards are available now, with production quantities in eight weeks. The D2-PAK-5L package will be available by June 2003. Pricing is $2.11 for 1,000-piece quantities, with delivery in eight weeks ARO.
