Fairchild Delivers New FDC6020C MOSFET Device

December 26, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

Fairchild Semiconductor International Inc. (South Portland, ME) introduced its small footprint, complementary MOSFET solution, the new FDC6020C, which is capable of delivering greater than 1 A continuous current in miniature "spot" power and point-of-load dc-dc switching converter designs. The FDC6020C integrates two MOSFETs into one ultra-small SuperSOT™-6 flip-chip in a leaded molded package (FLMP).

The FDC6020C is suitable for set-top boxes, digital still cameras and hard disk drives. The FDC6020C’s low threshold gate (VGS = 2.5 V) simplifies designs using 3.3 V bus converters or single-cell, lithium-ion batteries by eliminating the need for charge pump circuits when higher gate drive voltages are not available. Additionally, each of the device’s MOSFETs provide RDS(on) characteristics (52 mΩ for the p-channel and 27 mΩ for the n-channel, at 4.5 V). The FDC6020C’s junction-to-case thermal resistance (1 °C/W) and junction-to-ambient thermal resistance (68 °C/W) facilitate high current densities while maintaining optimum operating temperatures.

The FDC6020C is housed in a 9 mm x 9 mm x 0.8 mm SuperSOT™-6 FLMP. The price is $0.76 for 1,000-piece quantities. Available now, delivery is eight weeks ARO.
