ERNI Offers Vertical RoHS-Compliant D-Sub Connectors

New Products Mar 01, 2005 by Jeff Shepard

ERNI Electronics (Midlothian, VA) is expanding its offering of SMT D-Subminiature connectors by adding vertical D-Subs for SMT applications. The vertical SMT D-Subs complement the existing right-angle male and female SMT, press-fit, and through-hole reflow (THR) D-Subs. They are the result of a complete product line redesign by ERNI. The new D-subs help ERNI's customers reduce printed-circuit-board assembly costs by enabling them to simultaneously process vertical D-Subs in the same SMT production line used for other SMT components.

The new generation of D-Sub connectors are suitable for conventional tin/lead soldering and already meet the requirements for lead-free soldering in accordance with the RoHS specifications. The new connectors are available with overall heights of 6.3 mm or 9.0 mm in compliance with DIN 41652 and CECC 75301-802 specifications. They are available with 9, 15, 25 or 37 positions. The contacts are gold-plated in the mating area and tin-plated in the termination area.

The vertical SMD 9 position female D-Subs with bolts and jackscrews installed are priced at $1.50 each in volume quantities.
