Elspec Certified for Class A Measurement Methods by Power Standards Lab
Elspec Ltd. announced that its EG4K BLACKBOX device series received the Class A IEC 61000-4-30 2nd edition certification, by the Power Standards Lab (PSL).
Power quality measurement is a relatively new and an evolving field, with hundreds of manufacturers around the world that have their own unique measurement methodologies. Unlike well established single- and three-phase electrical measurements such as RMS voltage, manufacturers have developed unique algorithms for various previously undefined power quality parameters. With so much variation between instruments, electricians tend to waste too much time trying to understand an instrument’s capabilities and measurement algorithms instead of understanding the quality of the power itself.
The new IEC 61000-4-30 Class-A 2nd edition standard takes the guesswork out of selecting a power quality instrument. The standard IEC 61000-4-30 defines the measurement methods for each parameter to obtain reliable, repeatable and comparable results. In addition, the accuracy, bandwidth and minimum set of parameters are all clearly defined.
"Reaching this important milestone for the BLACKBOX is just another reflection on our level of commitment for excellence" said Mr. Asaf Laifer, Product Manager for the EG4K. "By achieving the highest quality standards set by the industry, not only means that our technology now conforms uniformly to clearly defined parameters, but also helps facilitate the next era in power quality measurements by bringing to market innovative products, tailor-made to our individual client needs."
