Elmo Motion Control Presents Maestro Servoamplifier

August 11, 2005 by Jeff Shepard

Elmo Motion Control Inc. (Germany), a manufacturer of digital servo drives and amplifiers, presented its Maestro servoamplifier for network-based, multi-axis motion supervision. The Maestro servoamplifier provides synchronized control, interpolated two-dimensional and three-dimensional control, sequencing, and event handling, all as a CANopen Master. The Maestro is based upon Elmo's SimplIQ technology, which operates as an Ethernet to controller-area-network gateway with connectivity to a host PC or machine-control, programmable-logic controller, with monitoring through a web browser.

"The features that make our product attractive -- high repeatability, "friction-free" performance, high-speed consistency, and height- and side-running accuracy of 1 µm/stroke -- these few features plus the cost savings gives a real competitive advantage to our customers," stated Elmo Motion Control Sales Manager Horst Malchow. "With the Maestro, there is less wiring, less space, reduced EMV, and fewer hardware requirements. In addition, the development costs for the application are reduced since CANopen communication is handled transparently. The Maestro's comprehensive, integrated development and test environment and its inherent flexibility makes the integration of intelligent knots via standardized industry protocols possible."

The basic Maestro servoamplifier unit is priced at $1,400.
