Elantec Announces EL7583CR DC/DC Regulator

Elantec Semiconductor Inc. (Milpitas, CA) announced its multi-output, dc/dc regulator IC with an integrated FET boost regulator and two regulated charge pumps, the EL7583CR, which is targeted at 12in to 15in TFT/LCD monitors, LCD notebook displays, pocket PCs and PDAs.

The EL7583CR, available in a TSSOP20 package, operates over an ambient temperature range of -40 to +85 degrees C. The boost regulator provides the main TFT/LCD column driver power, generating +12V at up to 350mA continuous current from a +5V input, with a typical 90 percent efficiency. The boost regulator can provide regulated output voltages ranging from +5V to +18V. A pair of charge pump control circuits provide regulated outputs for V(on) and V(off) supplies of +5V to +40V and -40V to -5V, respectively.

Pricing for the EL7583CR is $2.25 each in 1,000-unit quantities. Samples on demo boards are available now, with a lead time of 8 to 10 weeks for production quantities.
