Dranetz Combines 50/60 and 400 Hz Power Monitoring

April 18, 2006 by Jeff Shepard

Dranetz-BMI has added the PowerXplorer® PX5-400 for measuring and monitoring power on the testing equipment and 50/60 and 400 Hz power systems on ships and submarines. With high-speed sampling and data capture, this eight-channel, hand-held instrument captures and characterizes hundreds of parameters using a range of standard and customizable operating modes. The unique measurement capabilities of the PowerXplorer include capture of low-medium-high frequency transients as well as power measurements to clearly characterize non-sinusoidal and unbalanced systems.

The device meets the approved testing protocol for naval sea standards and all relevant departments within the US Department of Defense, including aircrafts, communication systems, weapon systems and computers. Standard features with the PowerXplorer PX5-400 include the unique annunciator "report card," which provides instant power quality answers in the field by collecting and color-coding categories to quickly identify areas of concern.

Data can be viewed in real time using scope mode, meter mode, event mode, harmonic spectrum or phasor diagrams. Data is captured on a memory card for analysis, trending, visualization and reporting using industry-leading DRAN-VIEW® software. Dranetz-BMI has also added AnswerModules®, proprietary algorithms that convert raw power quality event data into precise answers to determine the source and cause of the disturbance.

The PX5-400 is UL and CE compliant and meets IEC standards.
