Compaq Computer Presents New 30A Power-Distribution Unit

June 04, 2000 by Jeff Shepard

Compaq Computer Corp. (Houston, TX) presented their new high-voltage, 30A power-distribution unit, designed to improve integrated rack-mount power management and distribution while preserving valuable rack space. Designed to enhance the functionality of high-current and rack-based enterprise systems, the 12 (output) receptacle and 30A PDU is the largest capacity plug-and-play distribution unit available.

With four circuit breakers controlling load banks of three fuse-protected receptacles, the PDU can handle even large power-distribution requirements and deliver exceptional surge and spike protection. Mounted directly into a rack-mount side wall, the PDU saves valuable space needed for business-critical equipment and conveniently consolidates multiple power cords. Part of Compaq's NonStop strategy to create high availability and flexible shared resources, it provides up to 30A of alternating current load at 208V with 12 receptacles that are 10A each.
