New Products May 08, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

Cherokee International LLC (Tustin, CA), a manufacturer of switch-mode power supplies, has expanded its CAR Series of rectifiers with the launch of the CAR1548 rectifier system. The rectifier is suitable for cellular networks offering low initial investment with superior system dimensioning capabilities for either 1.6U or 3U rack systems, as well as distributed power architectures used in optical routing and switching, data storage, enterprise networks, broadband and applications.

The CAR1548 rectifier modules features 1,500W of constant power, compact dimensions of 69mm x 128mm x 325mm, 31.2A at 48V, power-factor correction, a typical efficiency of 91%, a wide-range universal input, integrated redundancy diodes, a thermally controlled fan enabling operation from –40°C to +70°C, hot-swap capability, fault redundancy, active load sharing, output-voltage programming, current readout, remote on/off, front plate LEDs, input over-voltage and under-voltage, output over-voltage, over-temperature, over-current, and smart power derating.

The CAR1548 rectifier modules are available with the ACE15 racking system, which is available with three CAR1548 modules mounted horizontally in the 19in, 2U rack providing 4.5kW; the second houses six modules mounted vertically in a 19in, 3U rack providing 9kW.
