C&D Technologies Intros UHP-28.2/12-D48 DC Converter
C&D Technologies Inc. (Tucson, AZ) introduced the new single-output, half-brick UHP-28.2/12-D48 dc-dc converter that will provide 28.2 V at 342 W at baseplate temperatures of -40 °C to +110 °C. The UHP-28.2/12-D48 has been designed for high-performance radio frequency (RF) power amplifiers and equipment used in high-availability applications such as cellular communications systems. The wide operating temperature range makes it suitable as a power source in outdoor applications such as cellular base station equipment and last-mile broadband equipment.
The UHP-28.2/12-D48 features industry-standard mounting and pinouts to help ease integration into customer designs. The unit is able to accept a wide range of inputs from 36 V to 75 V and specifies 2,250 V basic isolation. The UHP-28.2/12-D48's suitability for use in unattended applications is underlined by a mean time before failure of three million hours (+40 °C GF), and a ruggedized surge-, shock-, and vibration-resistant design that conforms to ETSI 300-019-2-4.
The UHP-28.2/12-D48 also includes converter shutdown on sustained input under-voltage, output overcurrent, output short-circuit, and over-voltage and thermal shutdown. Overload currents that are less than a short circuit limit the output current so that operation is not interrupted. Upon short-circuit shutdown, a "hiccup mode" will automatically attempt to restart the UHP-28.2/12-D48 once the overload is removed. The input will tolerate up to 100 V over-voltage spikes for a duration of 100 msec. Other standard features included in the specification of the new unit include remote sense, trim, on/off control, and startup into pre-biased load.
The UHP-28.2/12-D48 carries the CE mark and has UL/EN60950 safety approvals. It has also been designed for RoHS compliance. Pricing for the UHP-28.2/12-D48 is $74.75 for 100-unit quantities, without a baseplate. The baseplate-installed model, the UHP-28.2/12-D48B, is $82.88 for 100-unit quantities. Delivery is from stock to four weeks.
