Beta Dyne Intros SRAD20 Family of Switching Regulators

January 30, 2005 by Jeff Shepard

Beta Dyne Inc. (Bridgewater, MA) introduced its new SRAD20 family of 20 W constant-frequency, current-mode, adjustable-output, step-up switching regulators. The SRAD20 is suitable for applications that require high output voltages, including external modems, programmable power supplies, xDSL power supplies, telecom hardware, LAN and network systems, and point-of-sale systems.

Two models are offered: the SRAD20S200/5 has an input-voltage range from 6 Vdc to 10 Vdc (7 Vdc nominal) and the SRAD20S200/12 has an input-voltage range from 9 Vdc to 18 Vdc (12 Vdc nominal). Both models provide an adjustable output voltage anywhere from Vin to 200 Vdc. The SRAD20 offers line and load regulation at a typical ±1% of Vout, and achieves high power density, low cost and high reliability via a high switching frequency and SMD technology. The switching regulators require a low impedance power source, or minimum 1,000 µF input and output capacitors for proper operation.

The SRAD20 comes packaged in a 2 in x 1 in x 0.39 in metal case with six-sided shielding and an industry-standard pinout. Units are available in four to six weeks ARO. Pricing for the SRAD20 starts at $55.00 each; discounts available for larger quantities.
