Bellnix Introduces Medical Standard Approved AC-DC Power Supplies

New Products Jul 26, 2011 by Jeff Shepard

Bellnix America, Inc. introduced its new medical standard approved BHI Series (50 & 100W) power supplies. The new BHI Series are EN60601-1 approved to achieve higher safety by strengthening isolation.

Medical devices have more technical requirement than information systems, in addition to basic safety requirements such as leakage current and isolation. The high costs of developing custom power supplies are not suitable for low volume medical devices. Typically companies have to go through the evaluation and counter-measure of EMC, resulting in longer product development cycles for medical devices. Therefore the company says that the new BHI Series can play an important role in reducing the total cost of medical devices and shortening the design cycle including EMC. The EN60601-1 approved BHI Series comes in a smaller package than standard ac-dc power supplies currently on the market, while achieving higher efficiency. Since the BHI Series comes with UL60950-1, they can also be adopted as a power supply for information systems.

Features and benefits include: described as 55% smaller than existing ac-dc products; eco-friendly (high efficiency by synchronous rectification schematics and optimal transformer); AC4,600V Input – FG: AC2,500V Output – FG: AC1,000V; ultra low leakage current: 0.2mAmax; and UL60950-1 approved and EN60601-1 approved.
