November 07, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Belkin (Compton, CA) introduced its newly redesigned line of SurgeMaster surge protectors, which feature the patent-pending Spoiler Cord System design. The new SurgeMaster line protects against power disturbances and cord-flow problems.

There are four categories of protection. The Gold Series offers protection for workstations, valuable peripherals, large screen and projection televisions, home theater/DSS systems, and major office equipment, providing up to 3540j of protection. The Maximum Series is geared toward home office or businesses using high-end advanced computers and peripherals such as larger audio/video pieces, copiers and scanners. The models offer up to 2655j of protection.

The Superior Series protects larger audio/video components, offering up to 1770j of protection. The Home Series protects small home computers and printers as well as standard household appliances such as small TVs, VCR/DVD players, portable stereos and cordless phone bases. The models offer up to 1180j.

The new Spoiler Series SurgeMaster surge protectors offer the added assurance of sliding safety covers on each outlet, which help protect users from shock hazards and keep the internal mechanism free of dust and dirt.

The new line is priced from $5.99 to $59.99, and will begin shipping in North America in January of 2002.
