Ault Presents New PW122 External SMPS

November 28, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Ault Inc. (Minneapolis, MN) introduced its 120W PW122 universal switch-mode external power supply. The PW122 is designed to overcome the excessive heat commonly found in high-power external products.

The PW122 is totally enclosed in an impact-resistive polycarbonate case that features a finned design with convection cooling to eliminate fans. The design facilitates heat transfer through the casing, reduces product size and increases power efficiency.

"OEMs are looking for power supplies that meet both performance and size requirements," said Greg Harris, Ault's vice president of business development. "The 120W PW122 is our first product family to deliver more than 100W, and it delivers that power in the industry's most compact size. This allows designers to reduce product size or use the space traditionally occupied by internal power sources to add product functionality."

The PW122 features power efficiencies as high as 88 percent, regulated output with low ripples for greater efficiency and an input range of 100Vac to 250Vac. The unit measures 9in x 2.9in x 2in and is tested to comply with UL/C-Ulus1950; TUV EN60950 MITI; EN61000-3-2; EN61000-3-3; and Australian approvals, CE ratings and EMI/RFI regulations.
