Astec Power Unveils MVP Power Supply Series

October 02, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Astec Power (Carlsbad, CA) introduced the newest member of its

MVP modular power supply series, the 1,200W chassis/front-end. An expansion of the existing MVP product line, the output power of the previous 1,000W chassis has been increased to 1,200W.

The modular MVP power supply line consists

of four strategically sized chassis, each of which has a built in power-factor corrected (PFC) front-end. These chassis enable the installed MVP output modules to deliver maximum power levels of 400W, 600W, 800W and now 1,200W to their designated loads.

Each chassis can be fitted with almost any combination of the 25-plus COTS output modules, providing multiple output-voltage combinations from 2V to 60V, at output-current capacities ranging from 0.5A to 120A. The 1,200W chassis can accommodate up to seven output modules. This makes it ideal for an extensive range of applications, including computing, telecommunications, networking, office systems, medical, industrial process control, as well as test and instrumentation.

The MP 1,200W chassis has a universal input-voltage range (100Vac to 264Vac), active

inrush-current limiting, power-factor correction (typically >0.98, which meets EN61000-3-2 requirements for input-current harmonic content), input OK and global dc OK status signals and indicator LEDs, as well as global inhibit/optional enable control inputs.

The MP 1,200W chassis meets worldwide safety standards, and has UL, CSA,

CE, IEC, VDE and CB safety agency approvals. It also meets all industry-standard

conducted noise and immunity performance requirements.

Available now, pricing starts at $677 per MP 1,200W chassis, including 1.2kW of output

modules and a one-year warranty.
