September 05, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Astec Power (Carlsbad, CA) announced the arrival of the LPQ142 into its low-power switching family. With user adjustability on three of its four output voltages, one with a range of ±3.3V to 25V, the LPQ142 is suitable for any low-profile application that requires tightly regulated, low output ripple, quad dc power.

The LPQ142 features 3.45W/in³, a height of 1.5in, an input-voltage range of 85Vac to 264Vac and 120Vdc to 300Vdc, a frequency range of 47Hz to 63Hz, active power-factor correction, an operating efficiency of 75 percent while delivering a full load, single-wire current sharing on the main output, a wide adjustability range of 3.3V to 5.5V, 30CFM of forced air across an open-faced unit, delivery of 145W of output power, an ambient temperature range of 0 to 50 degrees C, and 550,000 hours of demonstrated MTBF at 25 degrees C.

The LPQ142 complies with EN61000-3-2 requirements for input-current harmonic content, major worldwide safety and performance standards, and FCC and CISPR22 Level B conducted emissions. The LPQ142’s built-in Class B EMI filter also meets most industry-standard noise and immunity requirements when properly mounted and grounded within an approved equipment chassis, and has UL, CSA, CE, CB, NEMKO and VDE approval markings.

Available now, OEM pricing starts at $129 each.
