Apex Intros BC05/10/20 DC Motor Controllers
Apex Microtechnology Corp. (Tucson, AZ) announced its new brushless dc motor drives as part of its motion control product family. The new BC05 and BC10 deliver substantial output power from the compact 2in x 4.4in footprint.
The BC drive family features three-phase, full-bridge operation with two- or four-quadrant pulse-width modulation (PWM) and selectable 60-degree or 120-degree commutation. The controller drives the motor, generates the PWM, decodes the commutation, and provides both error amplification and motor-coil current sense. The analog motor current output can be used for either torque control or for the transconductance amplifier drive.
Using the BC controllers to drive a three-phase, brushless dc motor requires only an appropriate power supply, analog control inputs, and Hall-sensor feedback. Four-quadrant operation is possible in open- or closed-loop systems as well as two-quadrant operation with direction control.
